another great event from Toronto Pearson
Community Relations are very important to Toronto Pearson. They state on their website: “You’re the reason why we take our community responsibilities so seriously–because the choices we make every day have an impact on each and every passenger, employee and neighbour of Toronto Pearson.
We constantly ask ourselves what the implications of our operations are, how we can do better and in what ways our community will benefit.
This is why we’re growing our Community Relations program. We believe that by understanding more about our business, you can help us be a better neighbour.”
One of the ways the airport reaches out to the community is through the Street Festival. This year marks the third annual opportunity for the neighbours to come and visit Pearson and see what it’s all about. A chance to see the equipment that helps to maintain the airport, the emergency equipment and the actual aircraft and the people that fly them. A chance to see it all come together and understand what goes on each day at Pearson.
Pearson is a large city onto itself and, being completely surrounded by other municipalities, needs to work within the needs and goals of those communities as well as it’s own.
The Street Festival gives the community a chance to come over with the kids and get to know their neighbours.
We had a terrific time once again, looking at the aircraft and equipment, asking questions and learning what a large airport is all about.
Our thanks go out to Toronto Pearson for hosting this terrific event, Morningstar/FedEx for a chance to get a very hands on experience with their aircraft and KLM for not only bringing in a MD-11 for the event but for providing so many of their staff to mingle and answer questions. We would also like to thank KLM for bringing their Party Band “Night Flight to Rio” to entertain us all day. The band is amazing.
Once again Pearson does a first class job.
